Fish and their Caves

Many visitors to the site have asked me what types of fish would most like the caves I build.  So I added this page as a poor man’s guide to fish and their caves.  Many types of fish require caves for a variety of reasons. Cave Breeders spawn in caves, attaching their eggs to its inside walls.  In most cases, the parents will raise the fry within the cave. Cave Dwellers use caves to hide from predators and to ambush prey.  The fish pictured below fall into one or both of these categories.  I selected these in particular because they are small enough to fit comfortably in a Grottos and Fins cave.  Fish names that are preceded with an “FW” are freshwater fish and those preceded with an “SW” are saltwater fish.  To read a comprehensive description of any of these fish, just click on its picture or name. Note that you can also purchase the fish through this same link.
